Show Review: Connor Price throws an all-ages party on the Family & Friends Tour in Tempe

For concert enthusiasts who are also parents, the opportunities to take the whole family to a show are few and far between — thematic content, onstage antics, and fan behavior are just a few things that can go awry. But multihyphenate Connor Price has created a space where fans of all ages are welcome, and a wide ranging demographic packed Tempe’s Marquee Theatre for his local stop on the aptly named Friends & Family Tour.

As was the case on last year’s Price Club Tour, Graham — who’s new to releasing his own material, we later learned — opened the show, and he got a warm welcome. The Arizona crowd has been the most familiar with his music so far on this tour, and the enthusiasm was infectious.

In fact, excitement and enthusiasm were the main takeaways from the show. Connor Price has the presence and charisma you’d expect from an actor-turned-social-media-star-turned-rapper, and his high-energy songs turned the venue into a party. Crowd favorites like “GOLDEN GOOSE” and “Straight A’s” were a given, but Price also mixed in some newer songs with a pop punk influence (very born-in-1994 of him) and the two songs he wrote for his kids. Graham made frequent appearances, and the two tossed toques (“Not a Beanie,” remember?) and other signed merch into the crowd.

For the final segment of the show, the crowd was asked to shout, “Spin that globe!” so the onscreen globe could dictate which songs from Spin the Globe Price would play. “Drop” and “Spinnin” were the picks, and they were the perfect tracks to end the night.
