Arizona Financial Theatre was transported into the clouds for The Kid LAROI’s A Perfect World Tour last week. The pop superstar’s latest live experience wrapped the stage in massive video screens and an elevated platform to bring his creative vision for this year’s Before I Forget to vivid, vibrant life for the fans.
The evening started strong, with the energy of WizTheMc and Tommy Richman pumping up the early crowd. Backed by only his DJ, WizTheMc held his own during the first opening slot, winning over the fans in the pit and getting everyone to sing and wave their hands in unison. The room may not have been familiar with his songs, but he’d built an undeniable connection with the audience by the time his set concluded. Tommy Richman immediately followed, joined by a full band and a quiet confidence that held the room’s attention for his entire performance. The rapper and singer went massively viral with his hit “Million Dollar Baby”, turning that success into even more music and a staunch level of support from his ever-growing fanbase as they shouted along to their favorites from his set.
The theatre grew hazy with fog as The Kid LAROI bounded onstage to kick things off with “ME + YOU”. His devoted fans screamed hysterically and attempted to drown out his vocals with their own passionate singing- drawing just a flash of a smile from LAROI as the lights panned over the stage. This began a lengthy performance that pulled from every corner of the young artist’s impressive catalog and showcased the adoration pouring from his audience.
While LAROI mostly ran circles atop his center stage platform, he also got close to the crowd as the night went on. “Thousand Miles” was a winner in the middle of the setlist, while “Diva” stopped and restarted to hype up the fans even more as he headed toward the later portion of his performance. LAROI’s stage was starkly populated with just his DJ and a plethora of sound-making toys that he often gravitated towards, lending even more dimension to his set.
After over 20 songs, the night closed with the immensely popular hit “Stay” and “A COLD PLAY” before the nonstop cheering and chanting from the pit brought him back for a well-deserved encore. At only 22 years old, The Kid LAROI has already built an ardent following on the strength of his both catchy beats and vulnerable lyrics and Arizona has shown up for his tours every time. His next visit to the desert might even find him sharing new music with an even larger audience- the future is indeed bright for The Kid LAROI.
