Show Review: Crescent Ballroom hosts indie excellence with Mo Lowda & the Humble

Crescent Ballroom was sold out on Saturday night for a double bill of indie excellence. San Francisco’s French Cassettes opened the evening with sharp melodies and smooth harmonies, delivering a set that was both playful and polished. Their songs carried a brightness that immediately set the tone, and their natural chemistry on stage made their performance feel effortless.

Headliners Mo Lowda & The Humble followed with a powerhouse set that showcased their signature mix of raw rock grit and expansive, layered sound. Touring in support of their June release Tailing The Ghost, the Philadelphia trio leaned into both precision and spontaneity — letting songs stretch into sweeping, jam-heavy moments before snapping back into tight, anthemic finishes. The new material blended seamlessly with fan favorites, highlighting the band’s growth while keeping their edge intact. Their musicianship was front and center, each track balancing heavy riffs with dynamic shifts that kept the room hanging on every note.

The pairing of French Cassettes’ lighthearted charm with Mo Lowda & The Humble’s intensity made for a night that felt perfectly curated from start to finish. It was another reminder of why Crescent Ballroom continues to be one of Phoenix’s best rooms for discovering bands at the height of their craft.
