Show Review: Close Your Eyes brings more K-pop to Arizona on the Beyond Your Eyes Tour

K-pop fans from across Arizona and beyond took a journey to the Higley Center for the Performing Arts for Close Your Eyes. The group’s first North American tour, Beyond Your Eyes, drew a large crowd of fans eager to catch the second show of the cross-country run and they brought out their best outfits and lightsticks to commemorate the occasion.

The show began with a video introduction to the group, with Minwook, Jingxiang, Yeojun, Sungmin, Seungho, Kenshin and Kyoungbae emerging from the fog to thunderous applause from their Closers. Their self-titled intro track launched the seven members right into “X” and “2.0”, where they showed off impressive vocal arrangements and perfectly synchronized choreography.

Beyond the K-pop craftsmanship, Close Your Eyes is a group that clearly has the most fun just being onstage in front of their fans. Every member showed their distinct personality- both with each other and with the audience as they hammed it up during “Upside Down” and “Drop That!”. The group also threw in more sensual dance steps as the cheering intensified for “To the Woods” and “You”. Close Your Eyes also had several outfit changes- from their princely suits to a very “Chic” leather ensemble, their fashion was just as elevated as their performance.

The group delivered nearly two hours of nonstop action, making the fans feel even more connected to them with this first North American run. With an already impressive catalog of songs, their Closers had waited impatiently for this opportunity to see the group live and they gave every bit of their energy to a truly impressive first showing in Arizona. As the night wound down all too soon, Close Your Eyes bid a heartfelt goodbye to the fans and ended with a flourish on “Stay for Good” and “Subtitled”. The guys took a lengthy final bow, reluctant to leave a room that made their second American show such a rousing success.
