2025 had the luck of the (Dreamy) Draw and day two of this year’s festival boasted a jam-packed lineup with a little something for everyone. Scottsdale Civic Center Park filled up quickly with fans not wanting to miss a moment of the action- here’s all our favorite sets from Saturday!
Heartfelt Sentiments in Stereo
With plenty of acts to choose from, Atlas’ day started at the Bronco Stage with Wells Ferrari. The indie rock duo maximized their joint musical talents for a performance that drew the diehards into the sun early in the afternoon. With the clear skies and green stadium backdrop reflected in their sunglasses, Will Wells and Mikey Ferrari’s set was an expression of genuine emotions woven into lyrics that clearly resonated with the audience and started the day on a high note.
The Stampede Stage was bathed in warm late afternoon light and the audience was sweating in the heat, but that didn’t stop Asiris from pouring his heart out onstage. The Nashville folk-pop artist blends and blurs genres for a sound that’s all his own, belying his young age with honest lyrics and a stellar band backing him up. Fans lounging in the grass of the amphitheater sat up in impressed amazement during his performance as he proved that the kids just might be alright after all.
Party in the Park
After Friday’s more laidback energy and lineup, Saturday brought the funk to the Poncho Stage with Barrett and Chromeo’s respective DJ sets. Funk disco DJ duo Barrett had the crowd working up a sweat as they danced along to the most energetic set of the weekend thus far. The guys lobbed water balloons into the whirling dancefloor, had bubbles floating above the stage and even ran into the audience with uplifting signs that had everyone grinning as they whipped out some of their best moves.
When the sun went down, the lights went up on Chromeo’s highly anticipated DJ set. The duo encouraged the dancefloor to get rowdy with their hyped up mix of funk and pop hits, switching seamlessly between genres and never letting the beat falter. While the band usually plays sets of original songs, this DJ performance was just what the doctor ordered in the balmy night air.
Fans in search of a brass section made their way to the Stampede Stage for the inimitable Saint Motel. Another band that has a lot of love for and from Arizona, Saint Motel pulled out nothing but hits for their hourlong performance. The audience was ready to “Move” so the band kept that momentum going all the way through “Sweet Talk” and “My Type”.
Indie Rock Golden Hour
The audience seemed to materialize out of nowhere for Ashe’s midafternoon performance. The indie pop princess emerged looking effortlessly chic in her floral sundress, smiling brightly and waving at the fans on the barricade. This may have been a main stage performance but Ashe’s personal connection with the crowd made the giant stadium feel like an intimate club as she ran through favorites like “Another Man’s Jeans”, “Pull the Plug” and “Moral of the Story”.
Darkness had fallen on Scottsdale Stadium and fog filled the stage for Father John Misty’s dramatic entrance right into all 10-plus minutes of “I Guess Time Just Makes Fools of Us All”. The audience stood at rapt attention for Misty’s mesmerizing performance and presence, his piercing eyes scanning the crowd as he danced his way through “Josh Tillman and the Accidental Dose” and “Strange Encounter”. He joked that prior to his entrance, there was no one present on the field and he’d prepared for a thorough “ego death” should the performance take place in an empty stadium. The rest of the set found Misty behind his guitar while his excellent band held down the rich tapestry of sounds woven into his discography. His set came to a close with “She Cleans Up” and “Mahashmashana”, releasing the hold his voice had on the upturned faces of the fans.
It was time to get up and move again at the Stampede Stage with Local Natives. The indie rock group didn’t waste a single note or beat keeping the audience seated- they were on their feet and grooving from the jump. Singer Taylor Rice threw his body around the stage to the tune of “April”, “Black Balloons” and more to get the growing audience ready for the rest of the night and they all left the set feeling energized as the weekend was coming to a close.
A Vampire Weekend Getaway
Vampire Weekend was undoubtedly Dreamy’s biggest draw of the weekend as thousands of fans made their way to the Bronco Stage for the legendary group. Standing under bright spotlights that threw stark shadows across their faces, the set began as a trio under nothing but the band’s iconic logo before the curtain came down to reveal the scope of their current live show. Joined by violins, saxophones and multiple drummers and instrumentalists, Vampire Weekend transformed their indie rock sensibilities into a complex pageant of sound and spectacle.
The hits were well-represented, from “Holiday” to “This Life” to “Diane Young” while also throwing in plenty of material from their latest album. The response was the same- the fans were so excited to have the band back in Arizona that they cheered and sang with equal gusto throughout the night. The cheers only got louder for the first riff of “A-Punk” and upraised voices nearly overtook the band for “Oxford Comma” and “Cousins”. Singer Ezra Koenig spoke sparingly between songs but there was always gratitude in his expressions to the audience. The 2025 edition of Dreamy Draw faded out with “Walcott” and a stadium full of satisfied fans- let’s do it all again next year!
