Gallery: Lil Wayne is ever the party starter on Tha Carter VI Tour in Phoenix

Some went to relive the glory days, some went to experience the legendary rapper for the first time, but everyone was ready to party when they got to Phoenix’s Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre to see Lil Wayne introduce Tha Carter VI and run back 20 years of classics.

After quite the delayed start, fans had packed the venue and were treated to a 40+ song setlist (mostly snippets of each song, but enough to keep the energy up) with plenty of pyro and other production elements on the massive stage. Lil Wayne peppered in some new material, but let’s be honest — people were there to see the hits. “Get Money,” “Uproar,” “6 Foot 7 Foot,” and show closer “A Milli” all made the cut, as did some tracks where Wayne has a feature (“HYFR” and “Pop That”).

The show was a crash course in some of the most relevant hip hop in the last two decades, and it was a reminder that it really is Weezy F. Baby and the F is for “forever.”
