Show Review: Shinedown sets Phoenix ablaze on their Dance, Kid, Dance Tour

Fans looking for a spectacle flocked to PHX Arena last week for Shinedown’s highly anticipated Dance, Kid, Dance Tour. The fiery rock band brought along Bush and Morgan Wade so Arizona got to rock out all night long.

Morgan Wade and her band absolutely blew everyone away with their short but impactful performance. Wade’s blend of pop, country and some rock ‘n’ roll grit immediately won over the room and new fans cheered her on as she made use of Shinedown’s extensive pathway of stage catwalks. While the set was packed with original material, Wade also put her own spin on Radiohead’s “Creep” before ceding the stage to the rest of the lineup.

Brit rockers Bush were visibly thrilled to be onstage in Arizona and their performance was nonstop energy from the opening notes of “Scars”. Frontman Gavin Rossdale strutted his stuff along every corner of the maze-like stage, finding the spotlight at the perfect moments during “The Land of Milk and Honey” and “More Than Machines”. It’s been some time since the band visited Arizona and diehard fans turned up in huge numbers to catch what was definitely a fun set.

Finally it was time for Shinedown and this band has really ramped up the theatrics with these larger venues. Their latest album cover came to life for the band’s introduction before they all emerged at various corners of the stage shrouded in fog and blinding lights right into “Dance, Kid, Dance”. The band also bathed the room in wave after wave of stunning pyrotechnics as vocalist Brent Smith hit every note and fully hyped up the audience. The set was a fine balance between newer material and old favorites, with a couple of covers thrown in for good measure. It was clear that the band put their heart and soul into not only the musicianship but also the production, treating their longtime fans to an unforgettable night. As is tradition, the show came to a close with “Sound of Madness” and “Second Chance”, giving the room one more opportunity to sing along with one voice and end the night on the perfect note.
