It was a hyped up hot one in Phoenix on Saturday when Key Glock’s Glockaveli Tour barreled into Arizona Financial Theatre. A packed house was on their feet for the Memphis rapper as he celebrated his latest album with high level stage production and a performance that had the room bouncing along.
The dark sheet covering a massive crown of thorns fell to the ground, exposing the stage decoration above a platform where Key Glock prowled throughout his lengthy set. Emerging in a casual fit that perfectly matched the stage lights, he immediately got the crowd moving with “Blue Devil”, “Ambition for Cash” and more. Of course, this tour put the spotlight on the new album, with favorites like “No Sweat” and “She Ready” making the setlist along with older tracks from his discography.
Key Glock kept his flow tight, controlling the rhythm of the show with his unique vocal cadence and lyrics that were well known to those in the audience. The room lit up with hundreds of cell phone flashlights as the night continued into “Penny” and “Die Trying”.
Memphis is well represented in Key Glock’s style and swagger and he weaves the spirit of the city into his music to bring to fans across the country and the world. It was certainly a heater inside the theatre as the show came to a close with “Mr. Glock” and “Russian Cream” for another amazing stop on a tour that hip hop fans won’t want to miss.
