Primavera Sound Porto 2025: Rock, rap and more represented at day two of iconic festival weekend

The second day of Primavera Sound Porto dawned overcast and muggy but the weather was not a damper on the fans’ enthusiasm for the music ahead of them. A mix of hip hop, indie rock and local favorites made up day two’s lineup and there was not a moment to waste. Once again, Atlas jumped in the pit for all of it- check out our favorite sets from day two!

Local Acts Take the Early Spotlight

Kicking off the day at the main Porto Stage was Portugal’s finest, The BLKBRDS. The duo was joined by the rest of their live band and meshed stellar vocals with tight instrumentation for a fusion set teeming with EDM, hip hop and rock influences. For anyone in the audience unfamiliar with the project, dance is a key element of the live show and the band was joined by a plethora of talented dancers to bring their music into a whole new dimension. The sun may have been obscured by the clouds, but The BLKBRDS were a ray of sunshine all on their own to start another amazing day.

While not local to Portugal, duo ANAVITÓRIA brought their Brazilian Portuguese sound to a very large crowd setting into an afternoon on the lawn. These two vocalists harmonized in perfect sync, getting everyone to sing along from the barricade to the back- even a few security guards were spotted raising their voices along with the crowd. It’s clear that Portugal has adopted them as their own and the fans were so excited to welcome them to Primavera Sound this year.

TV on the Radio Reunites at Primavera

Iconic American band TV on the Radio never formally declared a hiatus, but their appearances are rare and not to be missed. The Primavera crowd was in the loop and flocked to the Vodafone Stage to catch the band’s reunion- and the size of their audience blew them away. Every member was smiling ear to ear as they took the stage, even capturing the moment on their phones before launching into a setlist of favorites. Their energy was infectious, drawing the audience into the evening with their incredible performance.

Just before TV on the Radio’s set, New York newcomers Been Stellar rocked out on the Super Bock Stage right next door. This group of college friends drew plenty of curious onlookers as they performed like seasoned veterans for a growing crowd. Their indie rock sound had all the right elements- crunchy guitars, steady beats and an ever-present tambourine on the arm of singer Sam Slocum. Been Stellar was the breakout hit of the day and definitely made our list of top weekend performances.

A Genre for Everyone

Rapper Aminé might have taken the stage at twilight but he brought 13 Months of Sunshine to the Super Bock Stage as one of the main acts of day two. With an impressive discography to choose from, his set began with a mashup of hip hop favorites expertly mixed by his DJ to curate the vibes before he headed to the stage. Aminé was his usual energetic self, bounding from one end of the stage to the next and getting the fans to sing along to “Feels So Good”, “Vacay” and more. He also threw it all the way back to “REDMERCEDES” and “Spice Girl” for a solid mix of old and new for every fan in the crowd.

Those looking to switch it up headed back to the Vodafone Stage for Beach House’s electro-indie set, backed by darkness punctuated by flashes of colored lights. The audience stood mesmerized by the visuals while the band put their heads down and sprinted through a carefully selected set.

Closing the night for Atlas was the strangest band in the world, Chat Pile. The band is a mix of metal and pure noise while their message is loud, brash and political- they hold nothing back. Singer Raygun Busch had stripped down to just his shorts by the third song in their set, with the energy spurring the crowd into a mass of movement and crowd surfers. It was a mosh pit with meaning and provided the perfect appetizer for those sticking around for Deftones and Denzel Curry late into the night.

Day two really had a band or artist for every taste and Atlas spent a fulfilling day in the pit with a wide range of genres and influences. The party continued long into the night but fans were ready to shake off their exhaustion for day three- coming soon!
