A windy night in San Francisco swept K-pop group OnlyOneOf into The Midway for the penultimate stop of the Our Only Odyssey North American Tour. Despite missing a member due to his military service, the remaining five gave the Bay Area all of their love and energy throughout their two hour set.
The small but mighty audience crowded towards the front of the room as Nine, KB, Junji, Mill and Yoojung emerged in tailored suits that matched the sharp choreography of “chrOme arts” to kick things off. The group was determined to interact with their audience as much as possible and taught everyone the right moves for “give me the lOve, bitxx” and enhanced the romance on “gravity”.
After catching their breath and introducing themselves, the high-energy set continued with “dOra maar” and the pulsating beats of “gaslighting” (an Atlas and crowd favorite). The group captured international attention with the provocative choreography for “libidO” and continue to celebrate the song and its sensual visuals- to the delight of everyone in the room.
OnlyOneOf made headlines both in South Korea and beyond with their LGBTQ+ friendly concepts, putting them at the cutting edge of K-pop and drawing in a legion of dedicated fans who have found a safe space within the group’s messages. Each member put their own unique talents on display during the middle of the set, each performing snippets of their solo tracks and even adding in an acapella rendition of Rie’s “because” holding a fanmade picket just to make sure he was still part of the show.
Between songs, the group was goofy and lighthearted, joking with each other and with the audience to keep the mood fun. Controversy around this tour meant a smaller turnout but fans who’d made the decision to attend showered the five guys with praise and cheers from start to finish. “Stay” and “dOpamine” garnered thunderous applause before the group concluded the main set with “seOul drift”, with the chorus changed to SF Drift in honor of that night’s locale.
A brief but emotional video showing the group’s recent touring journey filled the space before all five members re-emerged in this tour’s merchandise to drench the crowd in water and jump around on “OnlyOneOf me” and “time leap” before saying their final goodbyes and closing out with “angel”.
This was OnlyOneOf’s third North American tour and their talent and passion for performing has only grown since their first visit. They poured every ounce of dedication into a very special evening in San Francisco and fans dispersed into the blustery Bay chill chattering about how wonderful it’ll be the next time the group is reunited as a whole on future tours.
