The world of Thai dramas crossed the ocean last weekend when actors Daou and Offroad held their first North American fanmeets in New York. The Forever Love Fanmeet sold out day one and packed day two at the Melrose Ballroom as fans traveled from all over the city and even the country for a chance to interact with their favorite duo. The excitement of day two brought the pair back to the ballroom for games, performances and much more.
The second day packed the intimate theater with eager fans for the matinee show, emceed by the hosts of the Let’s Talk BL podcast. After a line of group photos and cute poses, Daou and Offroad emerged from the wings for a short Q&A session about their time in New York and their upcoming acting projects. The pair has starred in multiple drama series in Thailand and that world of entertainment has now spread around the globe. Offroad was all smiles as he described their NYC adventures while Daou looked on, interjecting moments of humor throughout the first part of the event.
The two got their start as part of a Thai singing group and now pursue music solo alongside their acting careers. Offroad took the spotlight first with a performance of his new single “Foul” and had fans standing up to join in with the song’s lighthearted choreography. This musical interlude was followed by a series of games to get to know the guys better as they picked their favorite things (while trying to guess the other’s answers).
Daou is also actively pursuing his musical aspirations and he wowed the audience with the energy of “LaLaLye” before jumping into the crowd for the jaw-dropping final note. He’s a natural performer and made the audience a part of his show and they cheered him on as he grinned cheekily from the stage. In typical fanmeet style, the pair was subjected to an audience-submitted game of Truth or Dare- and Daou took his opportunity to sweep Offroad into his arms for one of the dares.
Their chemistry onscreen is legendary for anyone who’s watched their various series but their chemistry in real life is definitely next level and their obvious love and positivity permeated the crowd as well. Everyone in the audience was kicking their feet and giggling as Offroad described three things he loves about Daou with the pair hardly taking their eyes off each other.
Starstruck Media founder and publicist Lila Rose also took the stage to garner some spoilers about the duo’s upcoming drama and they shared a few tidbits that had the audience ready for the first episode (coming soon!). The final game of the event was a raffle where four lucky fans were summoned onstage to play Rock, Paper, Scissors with Daou and Offroad simultaneously and two took home the grand prize of a staring contest with the guys as the rest of the room whooped their encouragement from their seats.
While fanmeets are more common in Thailand and its neighboring countries, these actors are branching into the West and bringing their entertainment world to an audience quite literally a world away but no less eager to meet their favorite actors and artists. Daou and Offroad closed the afternoon with a moving duet and took their final bows to endless cheering from fans that are already waiting for the next time the pair decides to visit the States again. The unique structure of the fanmeet ensured that the audience got to be part of the festivities in more than just an observatory capacity so we’re looking forward to the next announcement to see who makes the journey next.
