Show Review: Young Posse keeps their crowd fed with Halloween date of The Hungry Tour

Stage West at the Herberger Theater transformed into a haunted house with more treats than tricks when Young Posse visited on Halloween this week. The K-pop group assembled diehard Teleposses dressed in their best costumes for an adorably energetic show in the intimate theater.

The room lit up with the group’s colorful lightstick and the five members took the stage to their “Posse Up!” intro. Sunhye, Jiana, Yeonjung, Jieun and Doeun bounded out like veteran performers, throwing all of their energy into their choreography and nailing their vocals and rap verses. The group is hip-hop centric, but each member contributes stellar vocal ability in front of their songs’ hypnotic beats.

It was The Hungry Tour and the fans were definitely clamoring for something to eat- thankfully Young Posse brought “Bananas” for everyone to enjoy. Having only debuted in 2023, their catalog is limited so they filled the middle of the set with solo covers that showcased each member’s unique style and abilities. Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa and Avril Lavigne tracks all made the cut and had the fans singing and dancing along to the familiar tunes.

They also turned the show into a pseudo-fanmeet, adding in a segment to answer fans’ questions and express their thoughts about their first North American tour. The group was charming and sweet at every turn and had the fans melting with their genuine smiles.

The members also let the audience have a glimpse of their softer side as a group, sitting and swaying to “Umbrella” and a sweet cover of Miguel’s “Sure Thing”. Unwilling to let the hype lag, the energy picked right back up for “Scars” before the main set closed out with “Macaroni Cheese”.

As it was Halloween, the group prepared fun costumes for the encore and skipped into the crowd to hand out candy during a reprisal version of “Ate That” and “XXL” to close out the show. It was a delightful way to spend the spooky holiday and Young Posse will be welcomed back to hopefully an even bigger venue when they return to Arizona.
