Show Review: Dayglow charms fans with new music at Arizona tour stop

Friday night at Arizona Financial Theatre saw Dayglow light up the stage, headlining a show in support of their self-titled album. The night felt like a milestone, especially given that the last time Sloan Struble and his band performed in Phoenix, it was at the much smaller Valley Bar. “This place is colossal,” Struble noted, marveling at the difference in venue size.

Opening the night was Australia’s Teenage Dads, who wasted no time getting the crowd warmed up with their quirky, energetic sound. Their set was tight, their humor infectious and they managed to build a strong rapport with the audience. It was clear they were more than just an opener—they were an integral part of setting the night’s upbeat tone.

When Dayglow took the stage, the atmosphere shifted into high gear. Struble’s signature blend of shimmering indie-pop and introspective lyrics instantly connected with the crowd, which was made up largely of teenagers—many accompanied by their parents. Celebrating both his new album and the five-year anniversary of Fuzzybrain, the setlist featured fan favorites like “Can I Call You Tonight?” and newer tracks that showcased his evolution as an artist. Despite the growth, Struble humbly reminded the audience that he’s still the same guy who started out “making music alone in his bedroom.”

One of the night’s most memorable moments came when a couple got engaged in the pit. Struble spotted them mid-song, paused to congratulate them, and then effortlessly continued the performance. It was a heartwarming reminder of the sense of community his shows create. Adding to the charm, Sloan continued his tour tradition of wearing handmade shirts that combine the name of each state with the word “glow”—his “Ariglowna” shirt was a clear crowd-pleaser.

As the night progressed, the energy only grew stronger. The set’s climax and encore were electric, leaving the audience in a state of collective euphoria. With just six dates remaining on a tour that kicked off in September, Dayglow is showing no signs of slowing down. It was a night filled with joy, connection and music that left everyone glowing long after the final note.
