One thing about Omerta is that the band loves Arizona. “America’s most hated boy band- according to them anyway- returned to Mesa’s Nile Underground to provide direct support for a show that had their basement crowd sweating through the November chill.
The quartet formally places themselves under the umbrella of metal, but genre is thrown to the wind when a song like “Charade” kicks in. The crowd was fully invested in the set, practically throwing themselves onto the small stage and seizing the microphone to lend their own vocal stylings whenever singer Gustavo Hernandez reached out a hand.
Hernandez also swapped places with guitarist Han Kim as he took a spin in the frontman role for a song as the band never let their energy waver. Fans moshed and two-stepped on command for “Benny Boy” and tumbled fully on to the stage to scream along to “Garbage” to close out the set. The Texas-based group has already continuously professed their love for Arizona- we’re excited for them to return on what will hopefully be a headlining run for the nu-metal game-changers.
