The Dichotomy Tour brought David Kushner- on his first headlining appearance in Arizona- to an eager all-ages crowd at The Van Buren this week for a night of melancholia and a healthy dose of worship.
Opener Henrik emerged first, looking laidback and casual to meander through a folksy set of original music that had the room shrieking. The first notes of Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” sent the fans into a frenzy and they filled the room with their voices and cheers when the set was done.
Kushner, whose lyrical content fervently expresses his religious views, led the audience in singing along to music from his latest album like “Sweet Oblivion” and “Darkerside”. His stellar band held down the music behind him while pillars of flashing lights illuminated the stage and the room in a wash of deep red.
He welcomed the ecstatic crowd to his first long tour after going viral on TikTok multiple times in the last couple of years. His fanbase has been massively supportive of the message as well, showing their love and appreciation for Kushner as his voice melted their hearts. After a lengthy set, he closed out the night with his viral hits “Miserable Man” and “Daylight” and sent everyone home with emotions running high after an amazing show.
