What a blessing that we’re alive at the same time as Two Door Cinema Club. The Irish trio is back on the road and finally returned to Arizona after five years, and they sound better than ever.
Joining TDCC on this run is Petey, who kicked off the show with a tight nine-song setlist and minimal commentary. His live band’s musical chops were on full display, and “I’ll Wait” and “Did I Mention I’m Sorry” were immediate highlights. Closing with “DON’T TELL THE BOYS,” Petey had fans in the front row shouting the chorus along with him, having the time of their lives.
As for the rest of the crowd at Arizona Financial Theatre, Two Door Cinema Club couldn’t take over soon enough. The alt pop juggernauts promised a setlist full of classics for a 24-song dance party, and that’s exactly what we got. Tourist History? Represented almost in full. Beacon? All the singles made it. The group knows what the people want, and they deliver. It was a massive thank-you to the fans, most of whom have been following along for over a decade.
Two Door Cinema Club may not be huge-production performers, but their command of the stage and total vocal control create an unmatched live experience. This one was special.
