A healthy dose of girl power visited The Van Buren in Phoenix when PVRIS brought their headlining tour to the Valley on Tuesday. Joined by Pale Waves and Bruses, this tour was a safe space for fans of all ages.
Pale Waves was the direct support for the show and emerged in a haze of alternating red and blue lights. The band put all of their energy into a high voltage nine-song set that had the fans begging for more when they were done. “Television Romance” and “Jealousy” were clear favorites, but the crowd loved them all and shouted their approval throughout the set.
As PVRIS’ Lynn Gunn walked onstage, fans in the crowd fell at her feet from the first chords of “Good Enemy”. Gunn’s powerful vocals have been a staple in the alternative rock scene for over a decade and that presence has only gotten stronger onstage. While new music has been in the works, Gunn touched on every era of the band as the night went on.
Gunn encouraged the audience to sing along and they responded beautifully to every song. “White Noise” drew huge cheers, along with a great response to the new single, “Oil & Water”. After a stunning 18 songs, Gunn returned for an encore of “My House” and “Goddess” to close a very special night in Arizona.
