The Coachella winds blew British dance duo Jungle all the way across the border into Phoenix for a euphoric show to kick off the week. Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland took over Arizona Financial Theatre with their infectious grooves and got a packed house dancing all night long.
The red curtain dropped right on cue as the first notes of “Busy Earnin’” kicked off the ultimate dance party. Lloyd-Watson and McFarland are vibe curators and the atmosphere inside the theatre was immaculate for the entire show. The duo was backed by their incredible band and had a vocal assist from Lydia Kitto on many tracks- including the viral and impossibly catchy “Back on 74” in the middle of the set.
At this point, the room was shaking with the force of the music and Jungle was not even ready to slow down. The room was bathed in an orange glow for “Cherry” and “Fire”, and they made sure no one forgot their name with a massive neon sign above the stage.
Kitto took center stage on “You Ain’t No Celebrity” and it was one of the most high-powered moments of the evening. The band released a cache of beach balls into the pit and they remained airborne through the end of the set, which culminated in “Holding On” and the perfect encore of “Keep Moving”. Staying in motion was not a problem for this audience- fans could be seen from the floor to the suites on their feet and grooving and they took that momentum into the streets to start their week on a high note.
