Gallery: The Metalcore Dropouts Tour opens up the pit in Phoenix

The Metalcore Dropouts Tour brought together some of the most legendary names in the genre for a screamfest of a show at Marquee Theatre this week. Counterparts and co-headliners Fit For a King and The Devil Wears Prada are all celebrating their 2022 albums and were clearly excited to bring this music to an equally exuberant audience.

Counterparts has visited Arizona numerous times over the years and their determination to whip the crowd into a frenzy absolutely worked. Attendees threw themselves at the stage, starting the first round of heavy crowd surfing and moshing throughout the set.

Texas band Fit For a King also loves coming back to Phoenix and said as much onstage during their wildly energetic set. The band ran through a series of old favorites, along with tracks from their latest album, The Hell We Create. Every song had the same response- fans screamed the words, opened the pit and kept a steady stream of surfers hurling over the barricade.

The Devil Wears Prada is one of the most influential metalcore bands still actively touring and every other group on the lineup sang their praises before the band took the stage. They sprinted through 13 of the loudest songs they could muster, shaking Marquee with the energy being exchanged between band and fans. Singer Mike Hranica even jumped offstage into a crowd ready to headbang with him.

Keeping tradition alive, a wall of death was called for and executed, the pit never stopped moving and a sweaty wall of humanity left the venue with huge grins and ringing ears.
