Show Review: Sik-K’s sold out tour pops off at The Rebel Lounge

Fans packed The Rebel Lounge wall to wall on Tuesday for Korean hip hop star Sik-K’s Pop a Lot Tour. The venue’s intimate design put the rapper up close and personal with a starry-eyed audience, most of whom sang along in both English and Korean all night.

Promptly at showtime, Sik-K bounded onstage to the tune of “Melanin Handsome” and was backed by a stellar DJ who kept the energy levels high. This tour also boasted HAON and JMIN on the lineup and all three artists alternated their time onstage, often joining each other for live collaborations.

The crowd did their part to keep the hype train rolling, pushing as close to the low stage as possible and allowing Sik-K to drench the first several rows with water throughout the set. Any language barrier aside, his charisma obviously put the room firmly in the palm of his hand. The addition of HAON and JMIN only added to the atmosphere and the trio ran through “No Rush”, “Habibi”, and “Darling”- even after Sik-K teased the actual end of the show.

By the time we hit the encore portion, all three artists were dousing themselves with water, snatching fans’ phones for cheeky videos and making sure no one forgot the words to “Iffy” and “Party (Shut Down)”. A lucky few in the front even snagged selfies before the nearly bursting room was let loose on the streets of Phoenix, thrilled after such an incredible show.
