Show Review: YG’s Red Cup Tour gets Arizona turned up on a Monday

It’s not always easy to get the club rocking on a Monday night, but YG’s Red Cup Tour rolled up and blew the doors off Arizona Financial Theatre this week. Joined by a host of homies, the packed venue partied all night with their favorite hip hop stars.

Five acts on the bill can sometimes bog down a show, but Day Sulan kept things moving with her sultry set, getting the fans pumped up with plenty of energy. She was followed by Kalen.FrFr who- of course- kept it real in his lyrics and hype man attitude.

The crowd stretched all the way into the balcony levels of the venue and everyone went wild for direct support act OhGeesy. The California rapper clearly had plenty of diehard supporters in the audience as people started bouncing and singing along to his medley of songs. Each set flowed one song directly into the others, with every act encouraging the audience to raise a glass and then promptly down it- bold moves for a Monday.

When YG finally took the stage, the room was properly riled and ready for the party to really get going. The man has put out hit after hit and he left everything on the table for his nearly 30 song set. Dressed to impress in gray slacks and a red vest, YG commanded the room’s attention even as he was surrounded by an extensive entourage of DJs, videographers and even super VIP fans who got to watch the entire show from the stage. The night seemed to fly by and with the closer of “Big Bank”, Phoenix brought in the early hours of Tuesday morning with one of the best parties of the week.
