Arizona Financial Theatre sparkled on Monday night as attendees glammed up to see Lauv in Arizona. The All 4 Nothing Tour also included Hayley Kiyoko and Payday for an evening of dreamy pop perfection.
Payday played a short and sweet set, rapping through just 15 minutes of material that put a smile on the faces in the front row. Her energy was contagious and perfectly started things off before Kiyoko entered the venue.
Hayley Kiyoko is lightheartedly referred to as Lesbian Jesus in many an internet circle and the fans fell at her feet accordingly. With the release of her latest album, Kiyoko’s set was a celebration of true self and new music. The audience sang so loudly to favorites like “Curious” and “Girls Like Girls” and cheered for even more when the set was done.
Pop singer Lauv has had more than a few viral hits, but it’s the deeper cuts that really shined the brightest on Monday. The stage was built for brightness, with the backdrop reflecting the plethora of lights bouncing around the room. Lauv himself prowled the platform built in the center, while his band held things down off to the sides so he could claim that middle spotlight.
In his own words, he was feeling himself in Phoenix, quickly jumping onto the barricade to be as close as possible to the diehard fans in the front. “Paris in the Rain” and “Chasing Fire” both had brilliant backgrounds and the audience was up on their feet and dancing.
One fan tossed him a shirt and Lauv did a quick change before asking if everyone wanted to get “Tattoos Together”. The kids love Lauv and they gave him all their energy as the night wound down. He closed things out with “Never Not” and the massive single “I Like Me Better”.
This tour has been a long time coming and from the joy on people’s faces, it was more than worth the wait.
