Gallery: Thundercat impresses a sold out Phoenix crowd at The Van Buren

There’s a lot to be thankful for after a very hard year and this Thanksgiving week, a sold out crowd made their way to The Van Buren to watch Thundercat shred his way through an immaculate set.

DJ and rapper Channel Tres got the party started with a mix of EDM drops and hip hop lyrics, dancing up and down the stage as the crowd got themselves into a nice little groove. He kept that energy going for over 30 minutes to warm up the house for the main event.

Thundercat took the stage to very little fanfare but huge cheers from a now packed room. Backed by a pianist and drummer, the fantastically talented guitarist started right in on the shredding for the evening. He was all smiles during his set, waving and interacting with the audience as they showered him with well-deserved accolades. His banter was perfectly timed and the energy was mellow and warm until the last notes faded out.
