Gallery: Lil Tjay stays ‘True 2 Myself’ at dynamic Phoenix show

Eighteen year old Bronx rapper Lil Tjay brought the hype to The Pressroom on Thursday in support of his debut album. The young artist was joined by a plethora of up and coming hip hop acts to pump up the crowd before his lively headlining set.

A number of unnamed DJs hit the stage, kicking off the long journey to Lil Tjay’s set. Various acts, many of whom went without introduction, popped on and off stage in the hours leading up to the main event. Local Phoenix acts Ice Cold Twinz and Prime Society were among the openers, interacting with the audience and keeping the energy running high throughout their sets.

Lil Tjay kept the anticipation building and finally beginning his performance well past the scheduled set time. The wait didn’t seem to matter to the fans, however, as they screamed their declarations of love and all the rapper’s lyrics back towards the stage. Tjay, to his credit, was all smiles and charisma, playing through tracks from his acclaimed first album. The night was a blur of beats, lights and intensity from the performers and their excitable fans.
