Fresh off the release of their first Elektra record, You Deserve Love, White Reaper and friends Criminal Hygiene are on the road and ready to get rowdy. The tour stopped by downtown Phoenix’s Valley Bar on Sunday night and even though neither group is from the Valley, it felt like a homecoming party for the heroes on stage.
Local act Gus D. Wynns & the Breakers brought explorative, multi-genre flair to the opening slot, already playing to a robust crowd, which Criminal Hygiene capitalized on by bringing the energy levels sky high with their signature garage pop and DGAF attitude. The room was heating up, literally and figuratively, and a collective roar welcomed White Reaper when they shuffled onto the stage.
Atlas is waiting for White Reaper to get recognized as ‘The World’s Best American Band,’ but in the meantime, caught their killer set.
