Show Review: Papa Roach pulls out the hits for massive Phoenix show

Papa Roach brought their blistering Who Do You Trust Tour to Phoenix last week, igniting Comerica Theatre with their performance.

Bad Wolves opened the evening, their energy spreading to the crowd. Frontman Tommy Vext stomped the length of the stage and kept his vocals tight for an amazing set that included “Killing Me” and “Zombie”. The band also took a moment to speak about mental health, advocating for seeking help when needed. Their short time onstage was powerful, leaving ears ringing and big expectations to fill for the rest of the night.

Asking Alexandria returned home for this date of the tour and, judging by the cheers, the venue was clearly full of longtime fans. Danny Worsnop was dressed to the nines in his plaid suit, jumping around and generally having a great time. The band played a slightly longer set, flanked by blinding LEDs and plenty of special effects for a hometown set to remember.

Naturally, the fans were on their feet for the main attraction and Papa Roach did not come to disappoint. They are a band with years of hits and they pulled out all the stops for each one. “Scars” had cellphones in the air, while their cover of Blur’s “Song 2” kept the party going. Massive video screens projected images throughout the night, mesmerizing the audience during “Angels and Insects” and “Come Around”. They closed with epic throwback hit “Last Resort”, inciting a sing along that could have filled an arena.
