Gallery: CJ Ramone was ready to dance with Bowery Electric

“Let’s see if we can make you dance a little bit.”

That more or less sums up a Saturday night with CJ Ramone, former member of legendary punk band The Ramones. The audience may have skewed towards middle age, but it was clear that age didn’t matter. During hits like “Rockaway Beach”, the mid-40’s men in the crowd got the pit going.

It was a fun and unusual show, remembering the driving greatness of The Ramones while celebrating a genre past its heyday, but still going strong.

Christopher Joseph Ward, aka CJ Ramone, left the Marines to join the group in 1989 and never looked back. He filled the shoes of departing core member Dee Dee Ramone. Not an easy task, but one he thrived in for seven years until the band stopped touring in 1996. He’s since gone solo, touring regularly as well.

For those at The Bowery Electric, CJ Ramone was plenty of reason to shake their worries off for a bit and transport them back to their youth. Go dance a little bit today.
