Gallery: Johnnyswim ignites passion for music and life at Webster Hall

In front of a sold out show at Webster Hall, the husband and wife duo Johnnyswim kept the crowd swooning and moving to much of their latest album, Moonlight.

Intimacy is Johnnyswim. From the first echoes of strings to the last, one had a sense of belonging. A part of something given gladly from Johnnyswim to their fans living in the very un-intimate confines of the Big Apple.

Abner and Amanda took turns sharing stories of their upbringing, marriage and music. Once, Abner broke out an old gramophone mic for classy guitar picking and singing. Then he’d step back, crack a few jokes about his hipster hat and let his wife take the stage for a beautiful ballad. She’d belt notes out, end a song and also let loose some laughter about losing her voice. Then they’d break into something loud and powerful between the two, like “Don’t Let It Get You Down”. Fans heard yarns of Abner’s Cuban upbringing and how it affects his song writing. On and on it went until fans left, their passion for life a bit brighter.
